I don't even know how to take this story, but it's worth discussing. A right-wing blogger and a Department of Justice Attorney named J. Christian Adams, resigned after he won a default judgment against Philadelphia Black Panthers for intimidating white voters on election day and being directed to dismiss the case against them. He is claiming that the dismissal of this sort of case against the Black Panthers is part of a pattern of racism. It may just be a political thing. I heard about the story on Rush Limbaugh's radio show and he was ranting and raving about a black President and black Attorney General makes for an anti-white government. Helter Skelter, anyone? Race war incitement? Rush was also upset because this type of story was only being covered by Fox "News" and right wing pundits and no one else seems to care.
I care, but I don't really know how I feel about this story. I hope that it's not true. I hope that it's just a way for Republicans to drive a wedge between Republicans and Democrats.
I'm frankly sick of both parties. But this story is of lawyers behaving badly, whether it's Mr. Adams or Attorney General Holder or President Obama.

If you want to demilitarize a country you can do it by treaty, or you can
do it...

I am an election lawyer in Florida. The story is true. The amount of voter fraud that occurred in 2008 was off the charts. ACORN was very effective.
ReplyDeleteThe U.S. Attorney General is a very corrupt man. It is sickening. Just float through youtube to find a ton of polling violations that occurred during the 2008 election. It would be funny had the results not been so serious.
Can you please post some? I have no idea who to believe!? The last time anyone brought up acorn, it seemed totally staged.
ReplyDeleteBlack Panthers

A whole youtube channel full of "funny business."

Article from the time of the DOJ dropping the lawsuit. They won the case, then dismissed. It is really odd.

One of the Panthers in the video (Jerry Jackson) is now rapidly moving up the ranks of the Democratic Party in Philly.
ACORN has now changed its name. It shot its load in the 2008 election.
Well Holder said we were "cowards" when it came to talking about race and now people are talking about race.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what you call holding a club and smacking in your hands menacingly ten feet from a polling booth wearing black panther gear. Frankly, if that was me, I'd kick that fucker's ass, but I suppose most folks either ignored them or were afraid of them. If that's not voter intimidation not sure what is, as if I as a white guy did that, I'd be on the front page of the NYT and all over the Rachel "Alf" Maddow show.
ReplyDeleteReally? There's going to be ACORN bashing here now? I'm consistently amazed at people's ability to believe that the poverty stricken and the minimum-wage volunteers that try to help them can wield enough power in our society to influence a Presidential election. I mean, they can't get a job or escape from crippling debt, but swinging an election where millions upon millions of dollars were spent by both sides must be a piece of cake, right?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Anonymous should redirect his/her anger at someone who actually wields some power and influence in our society. Like, say, an obese multi-millionaire with a huge bully pulpit who drives one half of our society into a race-hatred fueled frenzy for four hours every day? Or, more on point for this particular blog, the law schools who promise to help the disenfranchised gain upward mobility and social power, only to leave them broken and destitute. If only there were some kind of organization that could help the poor and impoverished . . .
Wow. I really thought you were better than this. A black president and a black attorney general makes for an anti-white government? Would you ever, in 1000 years, have countenanced a claim that a white president and white attorney general makes for an anti-black government? Would you not have immediately began screeching about "the race card" and "P.C." in response to anyone who made such an arguement? And yet you rely on Rush Limbaugh and a right-wing blogger to broadcast a story like this then limply claim "I hope it isn't true."
ReplyDeleteI've never listened to Rush Limbaugh and I am not surprised that he is trying to make this into some sort of "anti-white" conspiracy. I wouldn't believe anything Limbaugh says in respect to this story -- or anything else for that matter. However, it is true that there is a history of voter fraud within both the Republican and Democratic Parties. Things like this have more to do with party corruption and getting whomever their respective party wants elected more than any race war real or imaginary.
ReplyDelete@3:01: Last time I checked ACORN was run by millionaires (until 2008).
ReplyDelete@5:57: That's right, we are just a bunch of t-bagging racists around here. GAC. It's not an anti-white government. Rush engages in hyperbole just like the MSNBC crowd.
Of course, if Sarah Palin said anything about this issue the left would go balistic. They sure do have a Palin fetish. I wonder if they make each other dress up like Palin before a "special night"?
I like to be an instigator. Just throwing it out there... I'm not afraid of race discussions, but I kind of posted it as a challenge to Rush. He thinks no one covers it, but his righty buddies--so I wanted to cover it. To the extent that this blog is read, no one here can say they haven't haven't heard of it. When it comes to political postings, I don't have much of an agenda. I just like to see what people think.
ReplyDeleteIt never fails. One minority gets a job somewhere doing something and suddenly there are legions of angry whites claiming they are disadvantaged and being discriminated against. Heaven forbid you suggest the reverse, they'll start screeching that people are playing "the race card."
ReplyDeleteI can't stand Obama myself, but it has nothing to do with his race. Just like I didn't care much for either of the Bushes, or hell, most white politicians.
It has never really been as much about race as it is about social and economic classes. Race still plays a factor, but Obama is certainly not in the same class as either white or black middle class.
The amount of voter fraud and intimidation that occurred in 2000 and 2004 in states like Florida and Ohio was off the charts. Gore and Kerry ostensibly won those Presidential elections.
ReplyDeleteHow is Holder racist??? I know racists. He is no racist.
ReplyDeleteholder doesn't seem to be racist - he seems to be more idiot than anything else....
