The Geography of a Recession

Doesn't the purple (10% or over unemployment) look like a disease consuming the entire nation? It's frightening to actually look at how much unemployment has grown across the country in the last two years.

In other news, I sprained my ankle while jogging. I don't know what I would've done if my injury had required surgery. Luckily it's not that serious. I went to the free clinic and the doctor said I should heal in a few weeks. That's what I get for trying to be physically active without any health insurance.

  1. Wow, look at all those people who are clearly just unemployed because they're negative, lazy, or aren't trying to find jobs.

  2. The purple must be those jobs created by the stimulus package. Did you notice that the uber-liberal state of Michigan was purple to begin with?

  5. I miss your old cover picture with the clouds. It was more demure and reminded me of sadness and regret. I felt like it captured "But I did everything right".

  6. Anon 11:03 Thanks for your opinion. Angel and I are open to changing the blog's template again to give it a fresher look. I wanted a template that had three columns so we could fit everything we needed without fitting everything in one column.

  7. I guess Manatee Joe failed to notice that Mississippi and South Carolina also had high unemployment in 2007. Are those states "ultra-liberal" too?

  8. Found you through Cryn. Hope your injury heals soon. As someone who has been without health insurance (or routine dental care) for 7 years--post divorce--I understand the daily balancing act of staying active vs. potential injury. Get well soon.

  9. Hope you feel better HK.
I was at the beach this weekend. I laid out for so long... and when I got up, I felt faint from the heat and the lights were going out... I knew I was going to faint.. and I thought to myself--don't faint, you have no insurance. I laid back down and didn't get up until my boyfriend forced me to drink a gallon of water. Funny that insurance was my first thought.

  10. I did notice Mississippi and South Carolina, but according to the left those places deserve high unemployment.

If you ever tried a civil case in Mississippi, you would consider it uber-liberal. Those juries like to give away the big bucks. Although, I do like their Rules of Civil Procedure and Evidence.
